Summary: The customer, an aged care provider, wanted to build a web app that enables potential customers to search and compare prices for the most appropriate aged care facilities.
I used AI to assist the process of developing a simple set of interview questions to find out the needs and frustrations of looking / comparing aged care prices.
With a set of personas I was able to utilise Figma Make and Base44 to spin up some prototypes to cater to the needs of the customer. By using prompt engineering I was able to refine the prototypes to facilitate different onboarding experiences. Please test out the demo links below.

Personas
Persona 1: The “Sandwich Generation” Adult Child
This is the most common user. They are typically adult children, often women, who are juggling the care of their aging parents with their own careers and family responsibilities.
- Demographics:
- Age: 40-60 years old.
- Characteristics: Tech-savvy, likely to begin their research online. They are often time-poor and need to find reliable information efficiently.
- Motivations and Goals:
- Find the best possible care for their parent that is safe, high-quality, and within a specific budget.
- Compare facilities based on location, services offered, costs, and quality of care.
- Understand complex pricing structures and government subsidies.
- Reduce the emotional stress and complexity of the decision-making process.
- Pain Points:
- Feeling overwhelmed by the amount of information and the number of choices.
- Difficulty finding transparent and comparable information on pricing and quality.
- Struggling to balance their parent’s needs and preferences with practical constraints.
- The process is emotionally charged and complex.
Persona 2: The Proactive Senior
This persona represents older adults who are planning for their own future care needs. They are often proactive and want to maintain control over their decisions.
- Demographics:
- Age: 65+ years old.
- Characteristics: May be retired, living alone, and concerned about future dependency. While some may be less tech-savvy, many are increasingly comfortable with technology.
- Motivations and Goals:
- Maintain independence and control over their life choices.
- Find a community that offers a good quality of life, social activities, and the right level of support.
- Understand the long-term financial implications of their choices.
- Avoid becoming a burden on their children.
- Pain Points:
- Apps and websites can be confusing to use due to small text, confusing navigation, or unclear color schemes.
- Feeling lonely or isolated at home, which prompts the search.
- Concern about the cost of care and the potential for economic insecurity.
- Difficulty finding facilities that cater to their specific preferences and lifestyle.
